My Inspiring Interview with Tana Grenda

Let me just say, the chat I had with guest Tana Grenda recording Ep 040 Big Life Lessons, was inspiring and motivating. Tana and I dive deep into big life lessons, their life hunting, being a foster parent to 5 kids, learning to understand your 'why', overcoming devastating obstacles and learning to navigate change.

If you are looking for a life-size dose of motivation, support, and encouragement, this woman can kick it into overdrive.

Here are some nuggets of goodness Tana shared with us that you won't find on the podcast:

Q: Who is Tana Grenda?

A: I grew up in Northern Idaho with all brothers. I learned to hunt, work, and shoot bows and firearms from a young age. The outdoors quickly became my happy place. I started lifting weights in high school and was really into sports and hunting. I also got my pilot's license in high school, started going to college for exercise sciences and sports nutrition, competed in some figure shows, and learned the hard way how I needed to take care of my body properly. After a few years in the exercise science field, I transferred to Alaska to become an Air Traffic

Controller. I got married to a man from Idaho, who flew airplanes in Alaska, otherwise known as a “bush pilot.” My ATC dream ended quickly because we moved to a small bush community called King Salmon. It is 300 miles off the main road system in Alaska. We bought an airplane ( super cub), and we now adventure all over the Alaska wilderness in our airplane for hunting, beachcombing, trapping, and fishing.

Q: What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a woman?

A: That family is the most important thing on this earth. Our kids have been my biggest hardship yet greatest joy and blessing. My passion is teaching others the importance of health, and now teaching my kids how to fuel their bodies properly, stay active, and live life in the outdoors. My goal is to be the woman that I want my girls to grow up to be and the kind of woman that I would want my son to marry.

Q: What do you wish you could go back and tell your younger self?

A: 1. I wish I told myself to just love myself in every stage of life. I would often starve myself, and kill myself in the gym to look a certain way. I spent a lot of my younger years focused on an “image” that wasn’t attainable or healthy. I’m fully “recovered” from that nonsense now, and teach others how to do it right, and learn to love themselves because I don’t want them to make the same mistakes I did! Other than that, I’ve lived a lot of adventures and I’m exactly where I want to be now, so I am glad that all of my mistakes led me here. :)

Q: If your best friend could only use three words to describe you...?

A: 1. Adventurous

2. Determined

3. Dependable

Q: What is the biggest piece of advice or encouragement you’d like to give listeners who may be struggling with life?

A: Just keep moving forward no matter what trials come your way, and love yourself in every stage of life. Your joy has little to do with the circumstances of your life, and everything to do with the focus of your life.

Tana also opens up and speaks about her and her husbands' struggle with infertility, how they've bonded despite the hurdle, and how their lives have been immensely blessed over their time together. If you or someone you know has struggled with this I would encourage you to jump over and listen to Her Inspired Journey EP 040 Big Life Lessons.

We also break the intense conversation to hear Tana's Brown Bear story unfold. This bow harvest, all the excitement, and fulfillment it brought left me with goosebumps. I am STOKED for her success and inspired by the fear she overcame in doing so.

I can't say enough about this woman and the welcomed motivation she brought to me and the Her Inspired Journey community! Thank you, Tana.
