20 Min HIIT Workout
Got that, "I need to move my body" vibe and battling the "I’ve got no time" kind of life? Trust me when I say that so many of us are finding ourselves in the same place.
I have been hearing (and feelin) a lot of the, “I aint got time”, vibes and I’m here to help!
It’s times like these that I like to lean on simple at-home intervals and short-duration bouts. All that’s required is a little space to move and a few extra minutes in your day. The good news is getting your heart rate up will help increase your metabolism and boost your energy.
Yes, ENERGY. It seems that busy and mental/ physical exhaustion go hand in hand, even if your busy means sitting in an office or behind a screen most of the day. Is it just me, or is that one of the most draining things?!
Anyway, let’s commit together right now NOT make busy an excuse to stay tired and miss another opportunity to MOVE. (sorry, only yelling out of love).
I highly recommend adding this around lunchtime, especially if you are prone to feel that mid-day slump.
Warm-up:
3-5 minutes of movement, more if you’re just starting your day.
Here are some warm-up ideas below:
Inchworm In and Back (or walkouts)
Standing Toe Touch
High knees (hug the knee to chest and alternate)
Running in place
Goal 4 rounds:
@30 seconds work / 30 seconds rest
-or-
@45 seconds work / 15 seconds rest
Moves:
Rest additional 60 seconds between rounds
If you want to spice it up, even more, you can add in 10-15 min cardio of choice before or after. Maybe this is an opportunity to try something new, run around with the dog, or check out a new trail.
If you want to get out but aren’t sure where to start AllTrails is a great app for all things outdoor rec! I use this a ton when I travel to new places. They also offer the ability to filter to specific things like fishing, camping, dog-friendly hiking, kayaking, etc.
Remember, although your schedule may be jam-packed and keeping you on your toes, making time for yourself (mentally and physically) will help you stay on track and burn off stress.
These short bouts of movements also pay off big if you are looking to increase your metabolism and improve your fitness.
